Service Update: Operational Congestion at ITI Terminal

Ports & Inland Latin America Chile

We wish to advise that operations at Iquique Terminal Internacional (ITI) are currently being impacted by significant congestion within the terminal yard, resulting in reduced handling capacity and operational constraints. This situation stems from external factors affecting terminal activity during December 2025 and has continued despite previously announced mitigation efforts. This information is based on an official communication issued by Iquique Terminal Internacional (ITI) regarding the current operational situation at the terminal.

In response, ITI has implemented temporary capacity management measures, effective immediately. These measures include restrictions on import volumes, mandatory prior coordination for cargo reception, and operational adjustments aimed at prioritizing decongestion and cargo dispatch.

As a result, Hapag-Lloyd import cargo destined for Iquique may be subject to delays, and in certain cases cargo may need to be discharged at alternative ports or undergo operational rescheduling. Updates will be communicated on a case-by-case basis as further information becomes available.

We kindly request our customers’ cooperation in accelerating cargo dispatches, ensuring timely inland transport availability, and evaluating alternative routing or discharge options where feasible, in order to help alleviate congestion and reduce potential supply chain impacts.
