Terminal Operations


  • The average berth waiting time is 0 to 24 hours at Tokyo with 84%(dry) and 57%(RF-yard utilization. All other Japan ports are berth on arrival.
  • End-of-year restrictions 2022-2023
    The holiday period is marked from Dec 27, 2022 to Jan 4, 2023 with restriction limited to Japan inbound cargo. Japan outbounds are not restricted. Discharge of DG Class 1 to 7 prohibited. Other classes are accepted. Discharge of BreakBulk (BB) restricted. Discharge of OOG larger than OH:150cm and/or OW:30cm restricted. Prohibited: Stated DG classes are not acceptable due to local regulation compliance issues. Restricted: BB and stated OOG are not acceptable due to limitations in the terminal yard capacity and handling.


  • Pusan:  
    PUS average yards levels are at 75%. HJNC, PNIT and HPNT temporarily restrict gate-in moves for local & TS export that will not be loaded within 3 days (5 days for TS) to improve yard utilization.
    HJNC average waiting time is 0 to 6 hours, PNIT berth waiting is 4 to 36 hours and HPNT is 2 to 24 hours. GWCT yard utilization is 65% and expected waiting time is 0 to 8 hours. HJNC Yard repair work is scheduled to take place to early Dec. During this period, about 4% of yard utilization will be reduced.

    Trucking strike on November 24, 2022
    Inter-Terminal Transfer (ITT) impact: Own trucks will be arranged in terminals in newport only before strike starts (Transport within terminals). Newport transportation will be very limited causing a negative impact on ITT. Not possible to arrange ITT between old port and newport and DG warehouse transport(class 1,2,7).

    Export/Import impact: Gate in and gate out volume for export and import will be very limited because the union will block all gates in terminals. Difficulty to arrange CH volume for gate out during strike.


  • Shanghai:
    The average berth-waiting time is 0 to 1 day at SIPGSD YS4 terminal and WGQ terminal. Overall YS4 yard utilization is 65% and WGQ is 70%.
  • Ningbo:
    NBO average yard levels are at 78%. Average berth waiting times of 0.5 to 1.5 days. Due to stevedore and manpower shortage, terminal efficiency and vessel productivity have decreased.
    MD2 vessels have shifted to YZCT with waiting times 0.5 to 1.5 days.

  • Nansha:
    GOCT terminal average waiting time of 0 to 24 hours. NICT terminal average waiting times 0 to 24 hours. Normal terminal activities.

  • Yantian:
    Average waiting for vessel berthing, 12 – 24 hours. Terminal congested due to week 44’s typhoon impact. The terminals have restricted ship services such as ship repair, AGM inspection, ship & bunker survey, ship supply. All terminals are currently using a contactless mode of cargo operation. COVID-19 preventive and control measures as taken by Customs and local authorities are subject to change and adjustment on basic of the latest COVID-19 development.
  • Qingdao:
    Average waiting time is 24 to 48  hours. Intermittent port closure and congestion due to strong wind and dense fog.
  • DaChan Bay:
    CGX has priority of Berth on arrival. The terminal has resumed import reefer container operation except import frozen meat/seafood as COVID-19 prevention. Export and Transhipment reefer units are not affected and are handled normally by terminal.    

    Terminal average waiting time 0 to 24 hours.  

  • Shekou:
    Average port stay times is 0 to 60 hours with average yard utilization at 81%. Due to epidemic impact, vessel port stay time is longer than before. Terminal congested due to week 44’s typhoon impact  Contactless Cargo Operation issued by SCCT effective from 20-Jul-2022.  From 01 July 2022, Shekou - SCT/CCT/MCT lifted Vietnam RF fruit products import restriction. Shekou Terminal resumed the discharge operation of IMO 3 DG, IMO 8 DG and NON-DG chemical cargo (Boric Acid (HS CODE: 2810002000)) for Import from 20 July/0000LT.   

    Gate-in policy at Shekou Terminals (MCT / SCT / CCT) will be changed from ETB – 7 days to ETB – 10 days from Oct 15, 2022 to Nov 30, 2022.

Hong Kong

  • Average port stay times is 0 to 12 hours. The current RF yard density and utilization at MTL is 56%.


  • In VNVUT, TCIT berth is 7 to 22 hours, SSIT: 0 to 12 hours, Cat Lai is berth on arrival and HICT is 2 to 28 hours. Yard Density; TCIT:57%/SSIT:65%/HICT:62%.


  • The average berth waiting time is 0 to 25 hours west-bound and eastbound. Yard utilization is at 70%.


  • Westports, the average berth waiting time is 0 to 24 hours and yard utilization is 77%. Delays are from bunching of vessels and berth congestion. Northport, berth is on arrival and yard utilization is laden 86%.


  • Thailand (Laem Chabang) – The berth waiting time of HPT is 3 to 6 hours. Yard utilization: HPT: Terminal C – 41% and Terminal D – 43%. Reason for delays: Vessel bunching, accumulated delays from previous ports. Some vessels having to wait for high tide to arrive/depart. COVID-19 screening onboard process is taking around 0.5-1 hour for every ship.

New Zealand - Auckland

  • No specific issue, stops or slow downs.


  • Sydney Patrick terminals: Avg Berth on arrival ON window & Avg 4 days delay OFF window. AUBNE(PATRICK): Berth on arrival ON window & Avg 1 day delay OFF window. Minimal delays to all vessels, with most vessels BOA.
