Track your shipment in real-time – worldwide and regardless of the used mode of transport. All of our containers get equipped with smart devices to collect shipment information in real-time, transfer them into our systems, and make them available whenever you need them. 

Live Position can be accessed via our Online Business Suite in the Tracking section. By entering the container or booking number, you can track all your respective shipments and equipped containers. Live Position is only available to signed-in customers. It is set to be expanded by EDI and API interface. 

You will not be notified about updated in your transport plan but will be able to see and track changes on the Live Position website. 

Yes, you can purchase Live Position as a consignee under the "Additional Service" tab, provided you have the booking number. Live Position can only be added for containers equipped with a tracking device.

Please note that, as a consignee, you must be in one of the following countries to purchase Live Position: EU member states, the UK, Switzerland, Mexico, Chile, Canada, India, or China.

Yes, you do. Simply enter your container or shipment number to access the Live Position data. Your data will be displayed in an intuitive overview that provides you with location data of all containers within your shipment. By clicking on the respective row, you can access the single container view where all container-based tracking data is displayed. 

Live Position is available for: 22GP, 22UT, 25UT, 42GP, 42UT, 45GP, 45UT.

Yes it does, if the device is not removed by thieves. 

We will use the ship position data to track container on board an ocean vessel. 

Upon purchase your booking will be tagged with a remark that is indicating the depot to release a container with smart device.

The tracker is starting to send information at Gate out Empty of a container and stops sending if it is stationary for some time to save battery time. At Gate in Empty the container stops tracking the journey. You then have 7 days to download your data from our website.

Yes. Live Position provides you with the ETA of all containers within a shipment. In addition, you will be provided with a comprehensive overview whether all of your containers arrive on the scheduled ETA. If not, an updated ETA will be shown. 

You can book it directly in the Online Business Suite. To purchase Live Position, either directly add it to your quotation via Quick Quotes or Quick Quotes Spot or add it to an existing booking via the Additional Services page. Note that Live Position can only be added until the sea freight invoice is submitted. If you book a shipment including an inland leg (Carriers Haulage), Live Position will be added automatically without any extra charge and without a separate booking process.

If you have Merchant Haulage moves on the export AND import leg and/or Hapag-Lloyd is moving your containers to an inland ramp the price per container will be USD 15. If either or all legs are carried out in Carriers Haulage (door move), Live Position will be added automatically and be free of charge. Please be aware that ramp moves carried out by Hapag Lloyd are considered as Merchant Haulage moves as well.

Please talk to your sales representative on a way to make Live Position a part of your product offering. Keep in mind that every container on the Offline Deal will be charged for. You cannot pick and choose. 

After the purchase the Booking Number and/or Container Numbers can be shared with all BL Parties that can access Live Position if they have access to Hapag Lloyd’s Online Business Suite. Please keep in mind that BL Parties are often submitted with the Shipping Instructions which means that this would be the time when other parties get access.   

The Live ETA provides continuously updated estimated time of arrival predictions for your import container based on the real-time GPS tracking device of Live Position and past performance data (transport plan vs. actuals).  

The standard ETA is static and based on planning schedules. The dynamic ETA adjusts in real-time using actual movement and location data, to offer greater accuracy and reliability.  

The GPS tracker transmits location data every 15 minutes. If a change in the ETA is detected, the Live ETA is automatically updated in both the Live Position website and API.  

No, the Live ETA is included in the Live Position product offering at no additional cost, as it is currently only available for bookings with CH on the import side.   

Yes, if your system is integrated with our Live Position API, the Live ETA is available as part of the container tracking response.  

Yes, the predictive Live ETA uses historical data and real-time information to better forecast when a container will arrive. These factors can include Traffic-pattern and real-time traffic conditions, loading and unloading times at stop and route characteristics.  

The dynamic ETA is available for containers equipped with a Live Position tracking device.   

The benefits include improved planning accuracy, which enables better coordination of warehousing, trucking, and resource allocation, as well as proactive exception management, allowing faster reactions to deviations and minimizing supply chain disruptions.
