Implementation of Low Water Surcharge to/from Manaus
***Last Update: August 12, 2025: As water levels on the Amazonas River decrease slower then estimated, we are postponing the Low Water Surcharge (LWS)***
As water levels on the Amazonas River continue to decrease, we are implementing a Low Water Surcharge (LWS) to and from the Port of Manaus, Brazil. The LWS is necessary to offset the increased costs and operational complexities associated with navigating the low water conditions on the Amazonas river.
For your reference, kindly find the details of this Low Water Surcharge (LWS) below.
- Per TEU: USD 1000
- This Surcharge will be implemented for various regions:
- For cargo to and from Asia, Africa, Middle East and Europe the LWS will be implemented effective 21st August 2025.
- For cargo to and from North America and Latin America, the LWS will be implemented effective 1st September 2025.
We will continually monitor the water level on the Amazonas river and adjust the effective date in case the start of the dry season will be delayed. In such case, a new announcement will be shared with 30 days of notice.
