Shipping between Red Sea and Latin America? A Contingency Surcharge (CSU) is coming up

A Contingency Surcharge (CSU) will be introduced on all shipments to and from the Red Sea, including cargo originating from Latin America. The CSU will be in effect from March 3, 2026, and is applicable to all containers and cargo types until further notice.

The details of this surcharge are listed below:

  • USD 1,500 per TEU for standard containers
  • USD 3,500 per container for reefer containers and special equipment

The Ocean Tariff rates as well as Bunker-related surcharges, Security-related surcharges, Terminal Handling Charges (THCs) remain as announced and can be found here and are valid until further notice. Please keep in mind that local and contingency charges may also apply.
