Hello Hasan, thanks for taking the time and answering some of our questions about Cargo Shield and your experience with it! Shall we start with something easy to warm-up?

Please describe your company and your role in it, so that our audience gets an idea about your daily doings.

We are Limosa Global Logistics, a freight forwarding company based in Izmir, Turkey. We manage international shipments by sea, air, and road, focusing on flexible, reliable, and tailor-made logistics solutions for a wide range of industries. As Managing Partner, I oversee both the commercial strategy and daily operational flow. This includes customer and carrier management, route planning, and the implementation of tools that improve efficiency and minimize risk.

Beyond being a traditional freight forwarder, we are actively investing in becoming a next generation logistics company. We’ve integrated live shipment tracking tools into our website to improve transparency, and we’re in the final phase of launching a CO2 emissions calculator to support green logistics initiatives. Our mobile app is also on the way, designed to make shipment management even more accessible for our clients.

We see logistics as more than just moving cargo, it’s about building smarter, more responsible supply chains. That’s why digitalization, customer visibility, and environmental awareness are central to how we evolve.

Nice, thanks for the introduction! So, why did you choose to buy Cargo Shield?

The decision was driven by both simplicity and efficiency. In a fast paced logistics environment, being able to activate cargo protection directly during the booking or quoting phase (without involving brokers or external underwriters) saves time and reduces complexity.

We also appreciated that Cargo Shield is not marketed as a conventional insurance product, but as a contractual liability extension embedded into the transport terms. That makes it more operationally aligned with how we work. Moreover, the inclusion of general average and salvage in the scope was a strong differentiator, as many standard cargo insurance products don’t cover these or do so with delay and ambiguity.

How was your experience with booking Cargo Shield?

The experience was smooth and intuitive. We were able to add it seamlessly during the quotation process. We understand from the official terms and FAQs that Cargo Shield can also be added after booking,

Provided it’s done at least 24 hours before cargo handover. While we haven’t tested that option yet, this kind of flexibility (if it works reliably) would be a significant advantage over other carriers’ solutions, which often only allow protection to be added during quoting.

The pricing structure was transparent and container based, and the process didn’t require any offline approval or back and forth. From a usability standpoint, it fits well into our daily workflow.

What is the biggest benefit for you as a customer to use Cargo Shield?

The key benefit is predictability. With predefined coverage limits and clearly stated damage scenarios, we know exactly what to expect in case of an incident. That removes the uncertainty we often face when dealing with traditional insurance claims.

It also enhances how we communicate with our clients. We can explain clearly what’s covered, under what conditions, and how compensation is handled. That kind of clarity builds trust, especially when you're managing cargo on behalf of others.

What were the main motivations for your company to buy Cargo Shield?

Our primary motivation was to offer additional security to our customers, particularly for dry cargo shipments where external insurance is often not arranged. With Cargo Shield, we can provide built in coverage that is fast, clear, and scalable.

We also see it as part of a broader effort to manage financial risk on our side. In case of unexpected damage, having a solution that compensates within the structure of the carriage contract saves time and stress for everyone involved.

It’s also worth mentioning that from a commercial standpoint, offering Cargo Shield helps us differentiate ourselves from brokers who only act as rate negotiators. We can deliver both competitive pricing and added protection in one package.

Is there anything you’d like to improve about the tool?

Cargo Shield is a strong product, but there are a few improvements that would elevate it further:

  • Downloadable summary or certificate: After adding protection, a simple confirmation PDF showing the coverage limit per container would be very useful for our files and for client documentation.
  • Protection status dashboard: A centralized view where we can track all bookings with active protection, including coverage type and claim status, would bring much needed visibility.
  • Eligibility alerts: When entering excluded container types (like reefers or special equipment), an automatic system prompt would help avoid mistakes.
  • Automated reminders: A notification system that alerts users when protection is still possible (specifically before the 24-hour deadline prior to cargo handover) would help ensure we don’t miss the opportunity to activate coverage.

Since Hapag-Lloyd already sends automated emails asking customers to confirm if they plan to proceed with the shipment, a Cargo Shield reminder could easily be integrated into that flow.

For example: “If you have not yet added Cargo Shield, protection is still available until [date/time]”

This would support both operational planning and customer experience while also encouraging wider usage of the product.

Are there any more comments you would like to make?

Cargo Shield is well thought out and provides real operational value. It reflects an understanding of how freight forwarding actually works where speed, clarity, and trust matter more than paperwork. We see it not just as a protection tool, but as a step toward smarter, digital-first logistics. It’s a model for how carrier value-added services can evolve to match the pace and complexity of the modern supply chain.

We look forward to seeing how the product continues to develop and we’d be glad to contribute further as active users.
