Anders Boenaes was born on December 4, 1974, in Svendborg, Denmark.
His education includes business courses at Copenhagen Business School and an Executive MBA (Hons.) from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He has also completed various business and leadership programmes at Harvard, IMD and INSEAD.
Boenaes began his maritime career at Maersk in Copenhagen in 1993. Following various postings across four continents, he became Vice President and Head of Africa Trades in 2009. From 2014 to 2019, he served as Senior Vice President and Head of Network.
He joined Hapag-Lloyd in August 2020 as Senior Managing Director Network and a member of the Executive Committee. In this role, he was responsible for the company’s global liner network, container fleet and global operations. His experience also contributed to the establishment and implementation of the Gemini Cooperation.
Effective October 1, 2026, Anders Boenaes was appointed to the Executive Board of Hapag-Lloyd AG as Chief Operating Officer (COO).
He speaks Danish, English, French and German.
