Early data confirms strong network performance — nearly 40 percentage points above the market average.
The Gemini Cooperation between Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk is showing early signs of delivering on its promise: bringing greater reliability to global liner shipping. In its first month of operation the Gemini Cooperation recorded an impressive schedule reliability across all alliance port calls above 90 %— standing well above the industry average of around 50 %.
These results come while the Gemini network is still in its phased rollout period, which will continue until June 2025. Once fully implemented, the network will offer a robust, global service structure designed around reliability, connectivity, and sustainability.
The trend is clear: Gemini is setting a new benchmark for schedule reliability in an industry where consistency has long been a challenge.

"For Hapag-Lloyd, these results are also a reflection of our ongoing commitment to delivering on our quality promise. Being significantly more punctual than the market average is not just an operational achievement — it’s part of what defines us. This performance supports what we stand for: We are the undisputed Number One for Quality."
Gemini Cooperation will cover seven trades and offer 57 services including mainliner and dedicated shuttle services, complemented by feeder services. The fleet of our new partnership will consist of around 340 modern and efficient vessels, many ready to adopt cleaner fuels, with a total standing capacity of ~3.7 million.

After thorough consideration, Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk have jointly confirmed the expected network design for our Gemini Cooperation, which is set to launch on February 1, 2025. As the situation in the Red Sea remains highly dynamic, we plan to continue to sail around the Cape of Good Hope, as the safety and well-being of our seafarers, our vessels and the cargo of our customers are key. We will return to the Red Sea when it is safe to do so.
