Dr. Maximilian Rothkopf

Chief Operating Officer of Hapag-Lloyd AG

Dr. Maximilian Rothkopf was born on 13 June 1980, is married and has two children.

In 2004 Rothkopf achieved his master's degree in business administration at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich (LMU) and completed his doctorate in economic sciences at the European Business School, Oestrich-Winkel, in 2008.

He started his career at the management consulting firm McKinsey & Company in 2005. There he was a member of the global Travel, Transport and Logistics (TTL) leadership team and became a Partner in 2014. During these years he has particularly provided advice to larger liner shipping companies, airlines and numerous other globally operating logistics companies.

Dr. Maximilian Rothkopf has been a member of Hapag-Lloyd AG’s Executive Board since May 2019, and took over the responsibility for the global shipping business as Chief Operating Officer (COO) as from 1 July 2019.
