With Strategy 2030 we adapt to new market challenges and accelerate the pace for change. A main componant of our new strategy are ambitious sustainability targets.
We are committed to reducing the absolute greenhouse gas emissions of our fleet by around one third to 10.0 million tonnes of CO2e by 2030 (compared to 2022). To achieve this, we have identified the following four levers:
The average emission intensity of our total fleet, measured as Annual Efficiency Ratio (AER), is expected to decline by about 53% from 9.2 g CO2e/dwt NM in 2022 to approximately 4.3 g CO2e/dwt NM in 2030 in well-to-wake (WtW) perspective. The respective 1.5°C-aligned pathway of our relative emissions is defined as follows:
DNV Business Assurance Services UK Limited (DNV) has verified the decarbonization targets related to scope 1 and 3 emissions of our fleet operations to be aligned with the 1.5°C pathway. Furthermore, the identified actions along the 4 levers are considered suitable and sufficient to meet the targets. Please find the results of the independent technical assessment of DNV below.
