Canada – Montreal – Port of Montreal Labor Action – 72HR Strike Notice

On April 23rd, a 72HR strike notice was issued by CUPE 375, Syndicat Des Débardeurs, advising of a planned industrial action at the Port of Montreal, to begin Monday, April 26th @ 0700HRS.

As a result of this planned strike action, Hapag-Lloyd is currently reviewing potential contingency plans for vessels due to call Montreal. These plans include slowing down vessels for delayed arrival and diverting ships to alternate ports. Further updates regarding these plans will be communicated in due course.

Kindly take note that CP Rail and CN Rail will no longer accept export containers destined to the Port of Montreal. This is effective immediately and will remain in place until the labor situation is resolved.

As the situation develops, Hapag-Lloyd will continue to adjust operations in order to limit the impact to the schedule and to our customers.
