Please keep in mind that the effective date for these changes is August 1, 2021 and is applicable for all bookings (excluding consolidated cargo) from China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. The USD 1,250 penalty for cargo misdeclaration will apply but is not limited to the following circumstances:

  • Misdeclaration of commodity and any Bill of Lading information that deviates from the contractual agreement with Hapag-Lloyd.
  • Misuse of contract detected, where the shipment and Bill of Lading information deviate from the contractual agreement with Hapag-Lloyd and/or contracted rate is applied for an unrelated account without prior consent from Hapag-Lloyd.
  • Difference in cargo weight (above 3 Tons per Container) declared at the time of booking and cargo weight declared on VGM submission by VGM cutoff.

In relation to VGM amendment and misdeclaration after VGM cutoff, the amendment and cargo-weight misdeclaration fees will apply to concerned shipments.
