Therefore, an Emergency Revenue Charge (ERC) is coming into effect for cargo to and from the Red Sea. The ERC will be in effect from December 15 until December 31, 2023 and is applicable to wherever an additional transshipment had to take place*.

The details for this ERC are listed below and are applicable with immediate effect (excluding cargo which falls under FMC or SSE and MOTC regulated scopes):

Cargo routed through Suez Canal ( to/from Jeddah, Aqaba, Sokhna, Port Sudan, Djibouti, Aden)*

*The charge is to be borne by the Sea Freight payer. This surcharge is applicable to any booking issued on or after sailing on December 15, 2023 but not shipped, or already on water but not discharged or loaded in the Red Sea. All new bookings issued on or after sailings on January 1, 2024, will be exempted from the above surcharge.
